Storing Your Snowmobile For the Season
Snowmobiles can be anything from thrill-rides to invaluable tools, but with the coldest months behind us, it’s time to consider putting yours away. We here at Moroney’s Motorsports want to help you ensure your vehicle stays in good condition until you need it again, so we’ve put together a few tips for storing your snowmobile for the season, below. To learn more, or to see the snowmobiles and snowmobile accessories we have for sale, contact our store in New Windsor, New York, today!
Clean It Up
Snowmobiles aren’t known for staying pristine, but letting dirt stay on yours long-term can cause serious damage. Clean it thoroughly with soapy, warm water and apply wax to keep dirt and dust from clinging to it.
Stabilize It
Unless you’re going to thoroughly empty the fuel system, you should also add some stabilizer to the fuel tank. Fuel can separate if it sits around for long enough, allowing water to build up in the tank and corrode it. Make sure to get a stabilizer compatible with your engine and fuel and to follow the directions that come with it thoroughly.
Fog the Engine
One of the most important steps here is fogging the engine, which prevents corrosion. Remove the aid box and all foam from the area and turn the engine on, then spray fogging oil into each intake. Go from one cylinder to the next until everything is oiled or you see a foggy cloud exiting the exhaust.
