While ATVs aren’t necessarily dangerous vehicles, they don’t provide the same safety features a car or truck does. This means accidents can be severe, and it’s important to always ride your ATV with caution. For tips on how to improve the overall safety of your ATV, check out our tips below.

Keep Up With ATV Maintenance

On top of having the right gear, maintenance is also essential for ATV safety. Imagine if your brakes were to bottom out right before taking a sharp corner at high speeds. With a big, aggressive machine like a four-wheeler, it needs every part to be functioning properly for safe riding.

That means that you should inspect the braking system, tire pressure, oil, throttle, and coolant on a regular basis. If you don’t know how or aren’t comfortable performing any of these inspections yourself, feel free to bring it into our service department, where we have all the ATV parts you need.

Stay within Passenger Limit

Avoid overloading your ATV with more passengers than it’s intended to hold. There are weight and passenger limits for a reason, and that reason is to keep you safe. Extra weight changes the way your ATV handles while you’re driving it and this can mean you’re less able to change course when an obstacle presents itself.

Pack Safety Supplies

On your ATV, you should carry your GPS or phone with a charging cable, a repair kit with a flashlight for emergency fixes, and a first-aid kit to treat minor injuries and water. Sunscreen is advisable if you’re not riding in the shade.
